WindEnergy Hamburg 2022 | Day 3

WindEnergy Hamburg on Wednesday turned its focus beyond Europe to Asia as conference sessions debated the wind industry’s prospects and challenges in some of the world’s most exciting – and challenging – new markets.

A senior executive from Siemens Gamesa warned Asian governments not to expect investments in local content unless the output can be exported, as a panel heard claims that regional markets are too “introspective” in their approach to supply chains.

Back in Europe the spotlight was again on the crucial German wind power market, with the nation’s climate minister warning that plans for an accelerated ‘Energiewende’ will fail unless states such as Bavaria “do their jobs” and remove obstacles to onshore turbines.
